Story
Inspired by Emilia, who lost her life to sepsis aged 3 in March 2020 following an undiagnosed strep A infection, we raise money for charities important to us and awareness of sepsis, creating a lasting legacy in Emilia's name.
If you wish to learn more about what Team Emilia have been up to click on the Team Emilia link at the top of the page.
To mark Emilia's 5th Birthday, I am going to challenge myself to take part in at least 5 running and cycling events this year. In addition, I will be learning how to swim in the great outdoors. I welcome anyone who would like to join me.
I have achieved the following:
- ✅ Stubbington 10K Running with my colleagues 16 January
- ✅Southampton Common 10K 31 July
- ✅5 Ferries Ride (approx 50 miles) 28 August. Cycling from home with the first ferry from Hayling Island and finishing in Portsmouth via Gosport, Hamble, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
- ✅London to Brighton Cycle Ride (55 miles) on 11 September
- ✅The Great South Run (10 miles) on 16 October
Sepsis Research FEAT is a registered charity (SC049399) and we are the UK’s only sepsis research charity. Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined. We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:- to raise awareness of sepsis- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
