When setting new goals, running my first London Marathon was not exactly what I had in mind! However, with a push from a friend, some incredible luck in the public ballot, and a wonderful support network behind me, I knew that if I was going to embark on my first marathon I wanted to be running for a cause.
Founded by my good friends Carolin and Jorg Roth, My Life Films is a small charity with a big ambition: to create a range of film-based services to improve the mental health, wellbeing and social interactions of people living with dementia, as well their carers and family.
They have developed 'My Life TV' which is the first streaming service with content specifically curated for the cognitive needs of people living with dementia. It's a fantastic resource to keep loved ones stimulated and connected to the world, improving their mental health and supporting their essential care. The high-quality programming can give periods of respite and the interactive content can help with communication. My Life TV aims is to improve the mood and mental wellbeing of people living with dementia and improve social interactions. All funds raised will go towards helping the charity to reach more people with the TV service.
My Life Films also works with a patient’s loved ones to create a 10 minute film about their life. This helps them to connect mentally and emotionally with family, friends and carers; it also enables their care staff to deliver person-centred care, and give their primary carers opportunities for respite and shared activity.
Any contributions will be sincerely appreciated. If you would like to follow my journey on April 23rd, please get in touch.
