Story
Throughout 2022 my goal is to take part & engage with friends, family & the local community through some fun filled events, whilst raising vital funds at the same time, ultimately working towards an absolutely HUGE personal challenge for me of Trekking Machu Piccu in October 22.
My aim is to support the work St Oswald’s Hospice carries out each day with adults, young adults, children and babies with incurable conditions. The specialist care delivered, reaches out not only to the patients but also their families and carers too – but I need your help to support them in continuing to provide this vital work.
St Oswald's Hospice requires over £8.5 million a year in voluntary giving donations, so whilst this target is huge for me, it's still so tiny in the grand scale of things.
I have taken on a number of challenges and events so far across this year (and will continue to do so) in order to ensure I can help contribute towards the wonderful work at St Oswald's Hospice. I've had many friends, family & supporters sign up to the following events:
1) A Charity Hot Pod Class, in partnership with Newcastle/ Jesmond/ Whitley Bay Hot Pod, on 6th March. Raising over £450 including awesome raffle prices. Friends paid a minimum donation of £10.00 to take part, and we had over 18 people in the pod.
2) The plan was to host a Crossfit Event at Dauntless, and tried to do a second normal Yoga class. The Crossfit event had over 30 members taking part & raising funds for St Oswald's Hospice.
3) The third event, I wasn't successful in arranging which was due to be a Summer Solstice event in June 2022. Due to rules & regs, I'll try again next year.
4) A Charity raffle held at Unity Gym, Berwick and raised over £150
5) A Charity Seal Swim raising over £500 through Billy Shiels Boat Tours with over 23 participants, family, children & friends taking part.
6) A Variety of other raffles & things, and the Beer event @ the student's union for St Oswald's Hospice.
7) Before I head up to Machu Picchu, my latest request is to friends if they’d like to sponsor the cost of an hour of nursing care (£20) and to choose a mile & I will trek for you or your loved one(s) printed on my top.
7) I am currently raffling tickets for a x 2 course Tasting Menu at Peace & Loaf (Draw end of Dec) so please feel free to contact me now if you'd like a ticket for this.
8) A new Seal Swim date awaits being planned in 2023 (!!)
There are likely to be more challenges, games & raffles where you can also be in with a chance of winning too! AND if I have any super special friends who's work offers match funding & you'd like to use it towards helping me achieve my total, please let me know. I'd be over the moon at this!
My goal is to achieve £5,000 by the end of the year, which is nerve raking in itself (eeeeek!), so for now, I ask you to dig deep, and help me raise enough funds to help this amazing wonderful Hospice, and home to many that looks after it's patients, families and also staff so very well.
