It's 2022! This year, I'm celebrating being in REMISSION by taking on The Loch Ness Marathon to raise money for The Cancer Centre at Royal Stoke Hospital.
************************************************
In 2018 I was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was pretty crappy... But thanks to the amazing team in the Cancer Centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital, I've now been in remission for 3 years. 👊🏽
I had a total of 12 chemo sessions to banish the unwanted beast, which successfully put me into remission in May 2019. During this time, running was something I could no longer do (I attempted it once a few days after a chemo session and barely managed a kilometre out of the house before almost passing out and having a good cry.)
Since being in remission, I've worked hard to get fit and healthy again. And (while still not sure if this is insane) I'm now taking on something I never thought I'd do... The Loch Ness Marathon. Each mile a personal salute to the chemo sessions and medical procedures, which are the reason I'm standing strong today. 💪🏼
It would be amazing if you could help me raise money for the hospital - to help to improve care and facilities for other cancer patients.
And give the finger to cancer! ☮
Thank you!
