Story
The team of coaches and supporters is taking on an all-day cricket and cycle challenge to raise vital funds for the Belvoir Cricket & Countryside Trust. On Sunday, August 28th we will be cycling between all five of our Belvoir Bees venues - a distance of about 30 miles. And at each stop we will be running a children versus parents Kwik Cricket game. The challenge will start at 9am at Great Dalby, finishing at Knipton (via Asfordby, Hose and Croxton Kerrial) at around 5.30pm, so there will be plenty of tired, aching bodies by the end!Why are we doing it? •Because only 1 in 5 children meet the Chief Medical Officer’s requirements of 60 minutes physical activity per day•And two-thirds of those surveyed for BBC Children in Need believe that children’s mental health has got worse as a result of the Covid pandemic. So in 2023 we aim to get more than 3,200 youngsters, many of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds or have special needs, playing and learning outside. Active children are simply happier, more resilient and do better at school, according to research by the Youth Sport Trust.Every penny from your donation will go towards giving youngsters from all backgrounds sporting opportunities and opening up access to the countryside. Thank you for your sponsorship.
