Story
Cold, wet winter training under our belts we were excited by the prospect of pounding the London streets on Sunday 29th March, participating in the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Horatio's Garden. Sadly, as with so many events, this was postponed.
Not to be defeated, we remapped a route locally through blissfully empty and remote lanes. Whilst we observed only one physical landmark we took in an abundance of tree types and many animals and birds. And felt the usual pain and exhaustion on completion of the 21.1km - but job done.
Horatio's Garden anticipates a £240,000 shortfall in income this year resulting from the cancellation of all their spring and summer garden fundraising events.
The average stay in a spinal injury centre is five months and often much longer. Now patients are facing this time without support of their families as some centres are closed to visitors.
The gardens and garden rooms are an essential lifeline for patients away from the stress of the ward but help is needed to continue to build and maintain these gardens.
A thumbs up donation, however small, would be so appreciated in order Horatio's Garden can continue in its amazing work.
