Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

All funding and sponsorship raised will be spent by Teenage Cancer Trust and restricted to the Leeds General Infirmary Teenage Cancer Trust unit for support and services of young people with cancer treated on this unit

Cancer sucks! Chemo sucks ! Radiotherapy sucks! Being a mum of a daughter with cancer - sucks! For most of us, we will have directly or indirectly - whether it be a distant friends parent or our own immediate family, known someone who has suffered trauma of some kind of form, from Cancer. Nobody expects this horrendous situation to be thrown upon them let alone the thing we as parents cherish most-our children.

As some of you will know, but a lot won’t, in June this year, after serveral years of struggling with her health, my wonderful, beautiful, bright daughter Emily was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Suddenly she went from going to college daily, having a part time job, learning to drive and swimming three times a week to being on oxygen and bed bound as an inpatient for 17 nights, and so far, over the past 2 months this has increased to 33 nights. It has had a devastating effect on her life, and that of her sister, family and close friends.

Those of you that know me well will know I’m not really an exercise person, but...... I now find myself running three, possible 4, half marathons! The vale of York on 9 th September 2018, Pontefract (my home town - it has hills!) 30th September 2018, and the London land marks on the 24th March 2019. September to March seems like a long time, so probably throwing in a Grim up North half in December! Send the white coats now, I’ve clearly gone mad! I signed up to the London one on behalf of the Teenage Cancer Trust that have made this whole thing a little more bearable along with many other children’s cancer charities.

Therefore, I have decided to fundraise for the Teenage Cancer Trust for all my half marathon runs - you might all give more since I’m mad enough to run all 4! After all, cancer is the hardest physical and mental challenge that anyone has to face in life. From constant hospital visits, to the treatment, numerous medications and endless side effects, no one should have to face it, let alone as a teenager!
