Story
It's less than 48 hours until we run the half marathon! This is despite the fact that Dad is suffering from a knee injury and I've had 3 babies in the last 2 years. We started at the very beginning with a couch to 5k training programme and ran 5k in May. Training has shown that Dad is quite a lot faster than me - so he's going to leave me to it. I'm aiming for 2 hours 30 minutes, so it won't be hard for him to beat that time! It's been up and down to get to this point, but I feel confident that we'll do it now and I'm looking forward to it!
We're doing it for fun, and I also want encourage the kids to love running and exercise in general. We're also raising money for Dementia UK in remembrance of my Grandad Jim who passed away in January. He was a lovely, brilliant man who put a very brave face on his mental decline despite feeling frustrated, and frightened towards the end.
850, 000 people in the UK are living with dementia and Dementia UK is a national charity, committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia. Amongst other things they provide Admiral nurses who are specialist dementia nurses who give much-needed practical and emotional support to family carers, as well as the person with dementia.
We hope you will support us in this by donating - even just a small amount, or letting us know you're rooting for us with lots of encouragement! We hope we can do it, even if we hobble the whole way round!
