Story
Hi, my name is Ellis
I am an active 9-year-old boy and love nothing more than playing outdoors, cycling, running, and walking. During this period of Lockdown due to the Coronavirus I need to find ways to burn off energy.
Last year I loved walking up Mount Snowdon in Wales and saw recently on TV a challenge that I thought would be fun. Walking up Mount Everest – The highest mountain in the WORLD!! Well sort of!!!!
I am going to climb to the height of Mount Everest by going up and down my staircase at home. The staircase is 8.66 ft high, and Mount Everest is 29,029 ft high, so I will have to go up and down the stairs 3,350 times.
I cannot do this in one go, so I will be doing this over the course of 10 days starting on Friday 24th April and aiming to reach the summit on Sunday 3rd May.
I thought of just doing this for fun, but I have heard of the need to support the NHS so came up with an idea that would mean I didn’t tire out my legs just for nothing. I should get sponsored to raise money for the NHS who are saving the lives of so many people.
I would be really pleased if you could show me and the local NHS services some support by sponsoring me in this challenge – especially with all the amazing work they are doing for us all at the moment.
Thank You
Ellis Humphrey
Hello, I am Poppy Humphrey and I am 7 years old.
My big brother wanted to do a challenge during the lockdown, and I wanted to do something too. I really like running and have run 5km at our local Great Run. I wanted to challenge myself to run the London Marathon in my back-garden.
Over the next 10 days I hope to run just over 26 miles running around our garden or in our village. I think this will be just under 5km a day from Friday 24th April until Sunday 3rd May. I hope my Mum and Dad might keep me company.
I also would be really pleased if you could sponsor me to help raise money for the NHS. Both my Grandma’s were Nurse’s, so I know how wonderful everyone who works for the NHS are. I also remember a lovely Ambulanceman who helped me in Belfast once.
I hope to keep you posted with photos and updates on how I’m getting on.
Thank you for your support
Love from
Poppy
