Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Great Bristol 10k in honour of my Dad, who passed away in May 2022 after a long battle with physical and mental health issues.
In 2018, I ran the Warmley Forest Park 5k for Young Carers, however I have been hard at work training for the next milestone: The Great Bristol 10k. Prior to beginning training, I had not run in over 3 years, but after a year of training and taking up running as a hobby I am ready to take on my next challenge.
This run is being done in honour of my Dad. Before I became a carer for him and before he physically could not do it anymore, he loved to run, even running the London Marathon twice and somehow getting his hands on a certificate that said he ran a Half Marathon an hour faster than he did which made him an olympic qualifier! Now, I wish to continue his legacy and continue running in his footsteps.
All donations are going towards the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Young Carers charity, who have provided me and my family an amazing amount of support, while I supported my Dad. The charity supports young people between the ages of 9 - 18 years old who care for a family member suffering with physical or mental health issues by giving them the support they need, from offering time away from home to providing professional support. The group is constantly at work with the local council to improve upon the conditions for carers as well, so every penny will be going to a cause that I have greatly benefitted from for the past 7 years.
This one's for you Dad, and I know you'll be running along side me <3
