Story
Hi there, my name is Elliott and I, along with my friends James and Jonathan, will be running the Loch Ness Marathon on 3rd October 2021.
We are joining forces and running this race to raise money for the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
My son Oscar has a rare and as yet un-named genetic disorder which means he has severe and complex medical needs. One aspect of this condition is that Oscar has extremely dangerous epileptic seizures, which have the potential to be life-threatening if not brought under control.
The doctors, nurses and all the other carers at the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital have, on numerous occasions, provided life-saving care for Oscar during his most dangerous seizure events. Oscar's seizures began at just 6 months old and since then, he has not gone longer than 12 weeks without a seizure event. Oscar is now 3 years old and still fighting through all the challenges he faces, thanks to his own incredible strength and the amazing care from the Jenny Lind team.
The money that James, Jonathan and myself raise will be donated directly to the NNUH Jenny Lind Children's Hospital, specifically with the purpose of enabling them to purchase medical equipment that will provide potentially life-saving support to not only Oscar, but all the countless other children who come under their care and protection.
I want to say a massive thank you firstly to everyone at the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital for everything you have done, continue to do and will do in the future for Oscar and the children of Norfolk. I also want to thank James and Jonathan, two fellow dads, for supporting me in this cause. And finally, I want to thank in advance anyone and everyone who supports us with a donation, no matter how big or small. Your contribution means so much to us and we hope to do you proud as we go chasing Nessie in October!
