Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Elliott Aldhouse and this is my story...

I would like to make a small difference to something that is very close to my heart.  I am always looking to challenge myself and have been given a fantastic opportunity to help raise much needed funds for The British Heart Foundation by joining them on the 'Big Heart Bike Ride' in Africa in June 2016.

Before The British Heart Foundation there was no treatment at all for heart attacks, now after years of research, 7 out of 10 people who fall victim to a heart attack, get to go back home to their families. Before the British Heart Foundation, only 1 in 5 children born with heart disease made it past their 1st birthday, TODAY 4 out of 5 children with heart disease will grow up to lead full and happy life. Although the BHF has dramatically improved the lives of many people who suffer from Cardiovascular disease, we can not stand still. There are still 7 million people with heart disease in the UK, and today alone, 480 people will be taken to hospital due to a heart attack. Most shockingly of all, a quarter of all deaths, in England are due to cardiovascular disease. After learning all of this, I can see how vital it is that we join together and help fight for every heartbeat.

Therefore I have decided to fly out to Africa and participate in  'The Big Heart Bike Ride 2016' where we will be completing a 360km cycle ride over 5 days, raising money to help the BHF discover new and improved treatments.

June 18th 2016 is the date that my journey will well and truly get under way, when I fly out to Kilimanjaro Airport, Tanzania. I will then be setting off for 5 days of cycling across challenging terrain in difficult climates. The Big Heart Bike Ride begins at Mount Kilimanjaro, the largest free standing mountain in the world, and continues through a demanding and mountainous route where we will be stopping off and helping local tribes and schools and experiencing the life of others, until we arrive at the gates of the Ngorongoro National Park on the 24th of June.

Thank you for visiting my page, I will keep you updated with my progress and any amount no matter how small that you feel you can donate, will go towards hopefully a total that will make a difference. Thank you so much for joining me in raising money and awareness in the fight for every heart beat.

Thank you all for reading! keep up to date with my journey on this just giving page.
