Story
Hello!
Every running event I have entered over the last few years has prompted me to utter the words ‘I hate running’ so with this in mind I thought it an excellent idea to sign up to the 2018 London Marathon. Whilst these 3 words will undoubtedly still be voiced on a daily basis (apologies in advance flatmates, friends, family, colleagues) I am really excited to be running for a charity especially close to my heart – Kidney Research UK. March 2018 will mark the 10th year since my mum donated her kidney to my dad after his early diagnosis with polycystic kidney disease so a particularly poignant time for us and I'm sure (/I hope) will act as the additional motivation I need to get me through those cold, winter miles.
Kidney disease is not something many people know much about and this is primarily because it is a silent killer – around three million people in the UK are living with kidney disease right now and roughly one million don't even know they have it. With this being the case, KR’s work is more essential now than ever. If nothing else, I would love to help raise vital awareness and do my small bit to aid this fantastic charity which has been so important to my family and I over the last decade.
If you would like to know a little more about Kidney Research's work please do have a look at their website, but in the meantime I'd be so grateful if you could help me start my fundraising journey by putting a couple of pounds into the pot via my justgiving page. Every pound will make each training mile more bearable! (Maybe… I’ll let you know).
