Ellie supported a number of charities throughout her short and active life and gave unstintingly of her time and energy to help others in every way she could. She believed passionately in conservation work and visiting Sepilok to see their work with orangutans was to be a highlight of her Borneo adventure.

The Orangutan Appeal UK is a registered charity based in the south of England, dedicated to the rehabilitation and preservation of orangutans and the conservation of their habitat. As the first NGO outside Malaysia to be authorised to work on Sepilok's behalf, we are keen to support its work.

Founded in 2000, after founder and chairwoman Sue Sheward MBE visited Sepilok as a tourist, it makes us proud to imagine what projects Ellie might have devoted her life to.

The Appeal strives to protect remaining wild populations of orangutans by providing support and funding for projects across Malaysian and Indonesian Borneo and by raising awareness of the plight of this great ape across the globe.
