Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am so excited to be running the London Marathon in October, for such a great cause.
Every year the St. John's ambulance volunteers are on hand to assist runners who get into trouble. In 2019 I witnessed this when watching a friend who was hospitalised with what could have been a life threatening condition if it wasn't for the quick response and treatment he had from all the SJA volunteers on the side of the race there to help. We were all so impressed with their work, giving up their time to as others could enjoy the day safely, that I wanted to give something back...hence my application for the 2020 marathon, which is now happening next month!
The work of SJA is so inspiring, as the UK's leading first aid charity, every year more than 400,000 people learn how to save a life through their training programs and schemes. So few of us realise that without them so many major sporting events would not be possible without drawing scarce resources away from the Ambulance services. The millions raised through the London Marathon for all the other charities wouldn't be possible without the support on the day of the SJA volunteers.
We will have all participated in events made possible because of their attendance. Everything from Premier League matches to school sports tournaments - they have been there, helping fans and participants alike.
As well as at major events, their volunteers provide first aid in their communities and thanks to them fewer lives are lost needlessly.
Any donations would be hugely appreciated!
