Hello, thanks for visiting my JustGiving page!
The Charity
St Luke's hospice in Cheshire is a hospice which cares for people suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses and their families in their hour of need. They are a non-profit organisation, only funded by voluntary contributions and local clinical commissioning groups.
St Luke's helped my mum with support, counselling and hypnotherapy through the hardest time of her life, and our lives as a family, when she was recovering having suffered from breast cancer in 2010.
My Story
I am fundraising for St Luke's as they provided such an important service to not only my mum but my family, as they gave her support and help that we simply couldn't have given ourselves and it's time I gave something back. We're extremely lucky my mums now fully recovered. We're very, very grateful for this as it's not until you're st risk of losing someone that you realise quite how scary the prospect is of not having them around anymore, the summer of 2010 is a complete blur for me.
I volunteered with my employer late last year doing a MAD (Make A Difference) Day at the new Winterley Grange site helping with their garden area.
Any funds raised will be matched pound for pound by my employer, so I'm hoping to achieve above my £400 mark in total.
The Events
Throughout 2015 I am participating in 6 (maybe more) events to raise money for St Luke's Cheshire Hospice, these are:
- 8km Devil Mud Run, Cheltenham, 21st February
- 10km XRunner Muddy Obstacle Race, 18th April
- 10km Great Manchester Run, 10th May
- 10km The Suffering Obstacle Race, 6th June
- 10km Delamere Commando Trail, 12th July
- 20km North West Tough Mudder, 12th September
- 8km Devil Mud Run, Cheltenham, 26th September
At some point in the year I will also be going down the longest zip wire in the northern hemisphere, which is also the fastest zip wire in the world. This idea might seem fun to some but for me it is terrifying as I'm not a fan of heights/flying down a mountain at 100mph with only a wire keeping me alive!
If you're reading this you probably know me well so will also know I'm not the fittest person on the planet so all of these events are personal challenges for me, and I'm extremely grateful for any donations for the blood sweat and tears I'm sure I will endure!
Thanks, Ellie xxx
