Story
My name is Ellie. I am a 21 year old living in Leeds, and a daughter of a parent living with ME. I hand-paint wheelchair spoke guards with bespoke floral designs to raise money for the ME Association.
After painting and beautifying my Mum's wheelchair, I decided I wanted to do this for others too. Wheelchairs are, frankly, quite ugly and I want to change that. I realised this would also be a wonderful opportunity to raise money for the ME Association.
My wheelchair guards are available to purchase through my Etsy shop, which you can find here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/595400718/hand-painted-floral-wheelchair-spoke?ref=pr_shop
They are made to order, and as such, you can pick both the colour scheme and the types of flora featured. More details of the spoke guards can be found through the above link.
After deducting costs of materials, I will donate a percentage of the profits I receive from each sale through this page (approximately £20 per sale).
What is ME? ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy), or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is an illness that affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK today. Symptoms can include severe and debilitating fatigue, painful muscles and joints, poor memory, disordered sleep, gastric disturbances, and concentration difficulties. There is no known cure for ME and despite its life-limiting nature, the condition is not always taken seriously by medical professionals. In order for ME sufferers to have better outcomes, more awareness and research into the biological causes of the illness is needed.
