Story
I am taking on a 106km walk around the Isle of Wight on the 5th May 2018. It is done continuously and I am hoping to do it in 24 hours but it means walking in the pitch black. The distance is the equivalent of 2.5 marathons so it is going to be very physically tough.
I will be completing this challenge for the British Lung Foundation, an amazing charity that helps to ‘look after the nation’s lungs’ and has been researching lung conditions for 30 years.
So what is my story for this you may be wondering?! Unfortunately, in July just gone, my family and I lost my Grandad Harris due to a lung condition which meant the last months of his life were spent relying on oxygen tanks.. something he hated as you can understand as he was very outgoing and loved the outdoors. Grandad was the most incredible and heart warming man who loved his family and loved the Isle of Wight more than anything. He was very well known by everyone (particularly for his vegetable growing skills🥕) so I thought what better way to honour the man himself then to take on a challenge on his home soil where half of my family still live too. I will be walking those 106km with his voice in my head saying ‘go on my lover’❤️
I hope to raise a significant amount of money to help improve the quality of lives for those who suffer from lung conditions and also towards research for finding cures.
Thank you very much for reading and I will update you with preparations and training as well as the big day❤️
