DORSET MIND: Who, what and why?
"1 in 4 British Adults will experience a diagnosable mental health problem at some point in their lives"
It might be a friend, a parent, a colleague, a neighbour. Whoever it is, they deserve to have access to professional help without judgement and without added stress.
- Dorset Mind aim to raise awareness about mental ill health, educating communities about signs, symptoms and the help available if you spot them within yourself or in others.
- Mind work to challenge the stigma's associated with mental ill health and reduce discrimination so that support is accessible to all.
- A third aim of Dorset Mind is to promote the ethos of recovery, through providing education and support services to communities.
"As an individual who has lived with long term mental health conditions since adolescence, Dorset Mind have been an incredible reference and support for myself and the people within my care team. I have met some lovely local ambassadors for Dorset Mind and their hard work deserves the recognition and support. "-Antonia Petchey, 22.
There are many reasons why myself [Antonia] and Eleanor have chosen to raise awareness and fundraise for Dorset Mind, but in a nutshell it's a charity whose work we hold very close to our hearts.
