Story
On Saturday 8th June (dressed in my elephant onesie) I shall be taking part in the Enormous Elephant Run. As many of you know Kenya holds a special place in my heart. My sister has lived there for many years, and she introduced me to this wonderful charity. As well as rescuing injured and orphaned Elephants, they also operate Anti-Poaching and Mobile Veterinary Units, as well as Aerial Surveillance Teams, to keep wild animals of all kinds safe.
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust hand raises orphaned elephants until they are ready to be released back into the wild. They start at the Nursery in Nairobi and then are transferred to Itumba, Umani Springs or Voi reintegration unit where they will eventually graduate. I am very lucky as I have visited the Nairobi Nursery countless times, and in 2017 I visited Ithumba and saw my sponsored ele Teleki one more time before he went back to the wild.
Every year I volunteer at this event, and the atmosphere is incredible. This is my first year running it, and I can't wait to be part of the herd. Every wild life counts. Please sponsor me and help raise awareness.
