Story
REDRESS ensures that survivors of torture are able to bring legal cases to obtain justice and reparations for the violation of their rights, which is essential to the survivor's journey of recovery, and advocates for legal and policy reforms that deter its use around the world.
With the plight of refugees and displaced people in the news every day, there has never been a more important time to think about the human rights of vulnerable people. Recent events are also a reminder of the enormous importance of international law and the right of legal redress. There must be justice for victims and no impunity for those who commit atrocities.
I am proud to be fundraising for REDRESS, an NGO working on behalf of survivors of torture in the UK and around the world to obtain justice and reparation for the violation of their human rights.
Many of you will know that I was supposed to run the London Marathon as part of Team REDRESS in 2020 and had mostly completed my training when unfortunately the event was cancelled due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. I am extremely grateful to REDRESS for giving me the chance to run for them this year and tick off one of my bucket list ambitions as well as raise money for this truly important cause.
