Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Ellie McHenry, a student and part-time singer from Northumberland. Since the Coronavirus lockdown, I have been performing live on Facebook every Thursday following the 8pm 'Clap for Carers' to show my appreciation for our NHS and key workers. I have received a great response from followers and friends in doing so.
Although Coronavirus has had devastating physical effects on people across the world, the pandemic has also impacted people's mental health, which I see as just as important. Studying Psychology at University, I am very passionate about mental wellbeing and I wish to do my bit for the mental health sector.
Therefore, I have decided to host a live gig from my driveway which will stream live from my Facebook page @elliemaemchenry from 7-9pm on Friday the 22nd of May (at the end of Mental Health Awareness Week). I wish to raise mental health awareness during this difficult time and to raise funds for the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust Charity, also known as the SHINE fund.
The SHINE fund provides mental health and learning disability services across the north of England. Money from the fund is used to provide 'little extras' that make a big difference to peoples' recovery and mental wellbeing. In the past it has funded day trips and activities for patients. Now, with so many people self-isolating and without visitors as per the government's COVID-19 restrictions, the fund is focusing on providing young people under the Trust's care with craft materials, music equipment, games, puzzles, and more to keep them happy and well throughout this difficult time.
I hope that you tune in and enjoy the show!
