Story
Headway Oxfordshire is a charity that supports people affected by acquired brain injury, which has been as a result of a brain injury such as a stroke, tumour, haemorrhage or disease, as well as traumatic brain injury resulting from a road traffic accident, fall or sporting injury. Our mission is to improve life after brain injury and to raise awareness of brain injury, provide rehabilitation activities and community support that help support individuals integrate back into everyday community life.
Headway is an extremely important charity in my life as they supported my Dad and whole family when he suffered a brain injury in a car crash in 1999. Since then, Headway have offered support through classes for my Dad, support for my Mum, and even a kids group for myself and my brother with other children of people who have sustained brain injuries. I am convinced that Headway helped my Dad make the recovery he did and I will be forever grateful to them for this.
Because of this, I have always wanted to do something to raise money for this incredible charity. When I started running a few years ago to help cope with the pressures of teaching and then subsequently in lockdown, this felt like the perfect challenge to combine running and raising money for Headway. I would be SO grateful if you could donate a little to support me, and to help change the lives of families who need Headway's support.
