Story
Cost of living scandal:
- Inflation rising to 8%
- 1.3 million additional people plunged into poverty, according to Resolution Foundation analysis
- 1 out of every 4-5 UK people in poverty by 2023
- Biggest drop in living standards since records began, with most families £1,000 worse off a year.
Times are dire for the poorest in our society. More people than ever are feeling the chronic stress, health/social issues and risk of homelessness that come with poverty.
While this is a political issue and needs a political response, in the meantime those affected need direct support and advocacy to regain control of their future.
Quaker Social Action has been taking practical action against poverty for over 150 years. They work in east London and across the UK, to help people on low incomes to seek solutions to the issues affecting their lives.
Your donation will help them to listen to people's needs and provide practical projects, such as:
- Crisis support for those unable to afford funerals or furniture
- Empowering people to manage money, improve resilience or cook at home
- Running the UK’s first dedicated supported housing project for young adult carers.
I've been a QSA trustee for 6 years and can attest to the thoughtful, innovative approach, fantastic leadership and real impact.
This will be my first full marathon - any and all support is hugely appreciated!
Big love and thanks xxx
