Story
A few months ago my mum was diagnosed with Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer, which accounts for, only, three in every 100 cases of ovarian cancer in the UK. As a result of her cancer being so rare, there has been very little research into effective treatments. Currently, the treatment that is on offer to women with this type of cancer has not been proven to be massively effective in killing off the Clear Cell Cancer cells living in their bodies. Therefore, FAR MORE research needs to be done and more clinical trials need to take place to give women, like my mum, options for more effective and life saving treatments!
After researching different charities, I found that Target Ovarian Cancer does a significant amount of work and research into treatments for Clear Cell Cancer BUT, it needs more funding in order to progress further. That is why I have chosen to fundraise for this particular charity. Also, this charity, like so many others, has been hit hard by Covid-19 as their upcoming fundraising events have had to be cancelled/postponed, which means they are receiving fewer donations, putting their ability to carry out effective research at risk. This is why I have decided to complete my challenge over the next four weeks, as now is the time charities need us, and our contributions, the most!
SO.... the challenge I have set myself is to RUN 200K IN 4 WEEKS! (7.1K/4.4miles a day.) Whilst this will be a wonderfully rewarding task for me, it is also going to be hard, gruelling and extremely challenging as I only completed my first ever run about a month ago purely because I was nominated to complete the 5,5,5 challenge on Instagram. Therefore I am, by no means, a professional or even slightly experienced runner. BUUUUT I'm hoping I'll learn to love running by the end of the four weeks - that might be the only way I'm going to get through it!
Every donation will be a massive help and I appreciate all your support.
