On the 04.08.2023 a strong beautiful little girl grew her angels wings due to suffering from a rare form of mitochondrial disease, this horrible uncurable disease slowly started to take Freya's eyesight and on the 26th July 2023 Freya was taken to hospital as suffered from a metabolic stroke this is where they later found out her brain had started to swell. This disease took everything from Freya who despite her condition always had a smile on her face. All my love goes out to Freya's friends and family and to anyone else who has lost anyone to this horrible disease. I have decided to raise money for Mitochondrial research in hopes that is one step in the right direction that one day they will be a cure that is found.

 The Welcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research is based within the Medical School of Newcastle University. A huge breadth of research is undertaken within our Centre to address questions regarding mitochondrial disease and dysfunction.
