Story

On 21st April 2024 I will be running the London Marathon for JDRF.

In April 2009, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This was a complete shock to everyone as there was no family history of diabetes, and I was a very healthy, active 7-year-old. The cause of my diabetes is completely unknown.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks the cells in the pancreas that create insulin, meaning I have to inject artificial insulin several times everyday. Since diagnosis, I have had over 23,000 injections and 28,000 blood tests. With no cure yet I will have diabetes for the rest of my life.

The number of children being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes is increasing; it can happen to anyone at any time.

Running a marathon will be a huge challenge, but I am excited to raise money for such a great charity; JDRF are working hard to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

Thank you so much for reading, any donations are greatly appreciated!
