Story
Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will, and for that reason in a complete moment of madness I have agreed to ride in this race at Aintree on the 24th October 2021 to help raise funds for the Countryside Alliance Charitable Foundation.
The Countryside Alliance Foundation is a charity which aims to help adults and children alike make the most of the incredible remedial and educational benefits of being involved in the natural environment. By introducing people to the delights of rural Britain, The Countryside Alliance Foundation hopes to inspire them to become passionate about the countryside and helping to protect and conserve the natural environment. This includes The Fishing for Schools Initiative; designed for children with special educational needs, offering them the opportunity to discover the joy of fishing whilst learning new skills in a proactive way. The charity helps pupils to re-engage with education through building their confidence and self-esteem, while at the same time assisting with new qualifications and skills. It also includes Castaway; a programme which supports men and women affected by all types of cancer, to improve their physical and mental health through ongoing engagement with fishing and the countryside, the programme has a community focus, introducing participants to fishing, healthy eating and local produce, allowing them to share experiences and gain friends in a safe and supportive environment.
With the help of the INCREDIBLE Sheila Lewis Racing team, I can now just about ride a race horse (in no credible fashion!)
In preparation for the (rather brutal) fitness test I have been working through my paces to build strength, core stability and stamina for the challenge ahead.
I am extremely grateful for any support you can give me, and can guarantee I shall ride like the wind at Aintree on the 24th!
