Thank you to all our donators so far!
Well, we've been married a week! Woohoo! What a fabulous day we had! The day went by soooo fast, it was all a bit of a blur. We couldn't have hoped for better weather allowing the abseil to go ahead. The abseil went smoothly and the evening reception was absolutely fantastic! Thank you to Steve and all at Freespirits, the boys on dispatch on the ropes went to all the bother of white shirts and bow ties (thanks Jez for instigating that it was a lovely and very unexpected touch, I've seen the boys at their worst and I can now say they definitely scrub up well). A big thanks to Chris and all at Chest Heart Stroke, I hope we continue to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause in the weeks/months to come. Thanks also to Shaun Ward the photographer for creating fantastic photos, no doubt the abseil couldn't have been the easiest of weddings you've photographed.
A big thank you to all who came and celebrated with us, we had a fantastic day and night. Mark, Ray and Karen, you all looked stunning, we are so grateful you agreed to take part in our bizarre wedding day and can't thank you enough for helping us to realise our unique day.

A week to go!Update: 28/09/09
Less than 2 weeks to go!Update: 09/09/09
Less than 4 weeks to go!We got the wedding OK'd by the South Queensferry Registrar this week and will be posted shortly. My OS grid reference for the abseil must have been right! My walking training through Girlguides paid off!
Fundraising is going well and everyone is being very generous, we can't say enough thanks to all who have donated already.
Less than 5 weeks to go until the wedding abseil! EEEEEEK!
Everything is organised; dress, kilts, venue, food, ceilidh band and the abseil! Just can't wait for the next 5 weeks to pass!
Ellen Mcbride and Alex Harrison are finally getting married. On the 11th October 2009 we will be abseiling off the Forth Rail Bridge, 160 feet, with the minister and two witnesses and at the same time we are raising funds for Chest, Heart, Stroke - Scotland
Why?
Alex and I have been engaged for over 4 years and we're thinking what to do for the wedding. During a conversation with my friend Maggie, she said she thought we'd do something a bit weird like jumping off a building to get married. Brilliant idea, cheers Maggie!
My instant thought was the Forth Rail Bridge. Alex works for the company that sets up for CHS abseils and I've been lucky enough to have done the abseil a couple of times already! Alex has never abseiled off it as he's always dispatching people (as he reminds me each time I'm going over the edge!)
No-one has been allowed to get married abseiling off the bridge before and with a lot of organisation by Steve at Freespirits & Chris at Chest, Heart, Stroke - Scotland, we can do our vows while abseiling 160 feet with the minister and two witnesses on the ropes at the same time.
We would like to raise a good amount of cash for Chest Heart Stroke Scotland for allowing us to do it.
