Story
At the age of just forty eight, my mum sadly passed away in February 2017 at Thorpe hall hospice after an ongoing battle with cancer. Following her passing, I was unable to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Sue Ryder helped me and my family in this moment of darkness, they paved the way for me to see there would be brighter days ahead. I owe my mental strength to my mum but I owe my thank to sue Ryder for making me utilise that strength.
I know first hand my mum was treated with the highest quality of care thanks to Thorpe hall and their incredible staff, making it a comforting and tranquil environment. Raising money and awareness for the charity is crucial as Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare staff are needed more than ever at a time when they simply don't have enough funding.
Understandably, I feel indebted to give back to them. I hope running the London marathon will raise the funds needed in order to keep Thorpe hall running so others facing similar battles are able to receive the same help my family were so lucky to received, showing them too, there will always be a light at every tunnel, no matter how dark it may appear.
My mum was a marathon runner herself and as a child I always wanted to join her, I promised her as soon as I could run the marathon with her I would. Although she may not be able to be by my side for this one I know she will be watching come October 3rd. If you are able to part with any spare change, however small to donate to this incredible charity I would be extremely grateful and can promise it truly is going to the best of causes.
