Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please don't feel under any obligation to donate but take some time to educate yourself on the cause...
We recently lost my wonderful Grandad and lovely Auntie Jean after their long battles with Alzheimers. We are glad they are no longer suffering and continue to remember them for the brilliant, bright and caring people they were before they were sadly taken from us.
Dementia is a lonely and difficult battle, not only for those with it but for the friends and family surrounding them. The impact it has on families can be devastating as you watch the person you love slowly slip away from you.
I have chosen to support Alzheimer's Research to help find a cure for this cruel disease but also encourage you to become a Dementia friend to aid those suffering from dementia and to support their families in such unforgiving circumstances. Dementia Friends is a social action movement to raise awareness about dementia and change people's perceptions about the condition. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about dementia. You can become a dementia friend by attending a session or watching an online video. This will take no more than 10 minuties of you time and can really make a massive difference to the carers of those with the demetia as it can feel isolating and distressing.
