Story
After a little bit of deep thought and determination, I have decided to buy a new pair of trainers, get up of the sofa and master the art of running. No mean feat if any one of you knows me and realises running is not my forte; I couldn't manage a straight km just a few weeks ago!
Aside from a gaining a personal achievement, I want to use the opportunity to raise some money for a very deserving charity.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition without a cure. It causes respiratory and digestive problems from birth, needing constant treatment, and often leaves sufferers with a lung transplant as their only option. None of us can begin to imagine the harrowing difficulty of living CF, and this is why I have chosen to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, not just for the level of support they give to the people affected by the condition, but the promotion and support they put into research for treatments.
To put it into perspective, in the 60's there was only a 20% chance that a child with CF would reach school age, whereas by 2011 57% of people affected by CF were above the age of 16.
If it wasn't for the amazing development of treatment for the condition over the last 20 years there's a good chance I wouldn't have one of my closest friends today.
So, if you would like to support my pledge in raising money for the CF trust, I would be eternally grateful for every penny, but alternatively come and cheer me on (or shout if you catch me walking) through my 21km slog on the 13th of March. 5 months has never felt so short!
