Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Two years from when we should have undertaken this challenge, it looks like we are finally going to achieve it! New date to embark on this adventure is Thurs 17 Mar 2022 so fingers crossed we will get there...

We are embarking on a real challenge. In April 2020 we are trekking across the Sahara Desert as part of a group to raise money for Martlets, a local hospice in Brighton and Hove. This is a cause very close to our hearts as the hospice was where our friend, Sally O'Brien, was cared for and looked after in the last few days of her life.
Last February, I raised money for the same charity when I ran the Brighton Half Marathon. I had seen Sally on the Tuesday before the run to show her my Martlets top and she was even thinking of coming along to watch. The day after, the Wednesday, she went into Martlets but sadly passed away on the Friday, 22nd February 2019. Running the half marathon two days later was so emotional but thanks to all of you who donated back then, I raised over £1,300 for the hospice. I am running the half marathon again in Feb 2020 in my Martlets top.
As you can see, the target has gone up considerably from previous years and that is because this undertaking of trekking 50kms in the Sahara is going to be tough. We are both up for doing it but need all the help we can get.
That is why we are asking you to donate as much as you can to this hospice that doesn't receive any government funding.
Please...for Sal and for those who have to use their services.
Thank you.
