Alice has Epilepsy Autism and other disabilities on one of our holidays we stumbled across this wonderful centre who offer outdoor activities for disabled people. These activities would not  usually be possible for Alice but here everything is possible for her and  it pushes her to communicate with others and join in which for her is very difficult. A walk up a mountain isn’t usually possible but she goes in a special electric wheelchair called a bomber which she managed to steer herself. The whole week caters for your food special diets to having all you need from hoists profiling beds friendships and most importantly having fun and enjoying outdoor activities. It’s such a special place and is wonderful to see people able access and enjoy outdoor activities. Please sponser me so that this charity can continue to offer these holidays and services to people and their families.

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
