We help stroke survivors to find strength through support.

Story

As some of you may know, Philip (my Dad) has organised two relay teams to run the Belfast Marathon this Monday for the Stroke Association.  Friends and family members of varying (and in my case questionable) running experience are taking part, but where running prowess falters, enthusiasm remains.

Meet the Team Members...

Having recently completed the New York Marathon, Hugh proves to be a running natural.  Philip, who has been running every other day for the past 40 odd years is the anchor of this endeavour and a bit of a running evangelist.  Recently voted 'Glasgow Gaels Newcomer of the Year' (Glasgow's finest Gaelic football team), Maurice will be an asset to the team (ankle injury notwithstanding).  If their dancing skills are anything to go by, Madeleine and Petit will impress the Belfast crowds.  Tom, the Stroke Association NI's Head, is kindly mucking in and doing a leg.  With Roberta's running genes, Katrina and Genevieve will surely run a great leg each.  Patrick, whose first class skills on the hockey field will doubtless translate to road running is taking part.  Finally, Lizzie, who unfortunately has not inherited her father's or her brother's running skills and proves to run very slowly indeed, will promise to finish her leg and bring the baton home.

This charity is important to us because my Dad had a stroke about two years ago.  Fortunately, he has recovered very well.  Sadly, not everyone is so lucky and the Stroke Association do excellent work in supporting stroke survivors and their families and in funding vital research into prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.  If you would like to know more about the charity, please visit www.stroke.org.uk.

Thank you for your time and if you would like to make a donation, however small, that would be great,

Lizzie x
