Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For many years I have tried to do an annual sports related charity.  This year I will be cycling from London to Spain to raise money for Sparks, a UK charity.  The ride departs 3rd July from Trafalgar Square and arrives in San Sebastian 10th of July.  We do not peddle or paddle across the channel - we take a ferry to Le Havre.

Sparks is dedicated to funding pioneering research in paediatric medicine, with the aim of helping address the full spectrum of childhood health issues including: childhood cancer, arthritis, meningitis, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and all risks associated with premature birth.  Sparks has committed close to £18 million to fund 200 research projects at hospitals and universities throughout the UK.

As a registered UK charity, Sparks is entitled to a 28% tax reclaim for donations by UK tax payers.

The ride to San Sebastian is over 700 miles over 8 days, and includes a last day crossing the Pyreneese.  I am going with a group of people whom I have not met but who are all heavily training together in London.  You all know that I love cycling and am always up for an adventure.  This will not be easy but will be fun.  I have already committed to funding myself fully for this event so am not expecting any heavy donations; however, as I got to know more about the charity, and its very specific goals, I felt I should try to expand the fundraising from just myself.

No pressure but hoping you'll support in spirit.

Thanks so much,

Elizabeth
