This is Annie (Charlie's wife) telling the story...

 Charlie was diagnosed with blood cancer just before Christmas last year. He has always enjoyed walking and helped on the first Oswestry Round Challenge last year; it therefore seemed an obvious (??) step to actually do the walk to raise money for CRUK. So he is busy preparing by walking the miles (with the Haematologist's blessing!).
