Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, I went off to a Ladies who Latte networking meeting and by the end of it had taken on the challenge of abseiling down the Spinnaker tower in aid of Brain Tumour research. I have only abseiled once in my life and all I can remember is that I didn't like it much at all. Launching myself off into a sheer drop from the top of a170 metre building is therefore a massive, stomach churning personal challenge. Those of you who know me will recognise the stubborn side and the inability to refuse a challenge! Currently sitting at home with a broken knee, it does also give me a goal to focus on and something exciting to look forward to. If you are local, do come and support us on 25 April next year - in the meantime, dig deep and let's fund more research. Bring it on!
I have over the course of my life come in contact with a number of people who have had close family members suffer and sadly pass on as a result of brain tumours. The main aspect that they have all expressed is the utter helplessness they have felt and the inability to do anything to help their loved one. It is time for us to do all we can to find out more about this dreadful condition and find new ways of treating brain tumours in order to prolong and ultimately save lives.
I am doing this in memory of:
Jane Bird - who suffered far too long
Iris - mother of my friend Angela - a lady with a love of life who brought sunshine wherever she went.
Chris - husband of a former colleague Angeleen who was taken far too soon.
and also for Mark Zurschmiede who survived not one but two brain tumours. His life was permanently affected by this and sadly he died a couple of years ago - we had some crazy times on the ski slopes and there are memories that will go down in history!
