Story
I am traveling, along with fellow Master Chorale members (MUS 224) and Chamber Singers (MUS 222) to NYC to perform Verdi's "Requiem" at Carnegie Hall in March of 2023. I was able to do a similar trip in 2013. We sang John Rutter's Requiem under the baton of John Rutter! What an experience! I consider it a privilege to have this opportunity again. I have been singing with Master Chorale for over 10 years and have enjoyed performing the 'works of the Masters'. Professor of Choral Music Dr. Joshua Harper explains, "The opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The history of this iconic performance venue along with the opportunity to sing one of the most famous musical works is an experience that is unparalleled for students. This specific work is one that requires extremely large forces, the sort of work we would not produce at the College. In traveling to NYC, we can experience this work as an ensemble along with musicians from around the country."There are 32 students singed up for the Carnegie Hall trip, but traditional-aged students in particular struggle to find money to pay for tours like this. Your donation will help YC students join once-in-a-lifetime experiences like this now, and in years to come.
