Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2022 was a year of personal and professional highs and lows for me.

My sister was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma at the start of the year, and against all odds and a gruelling treatment regime received the all clear in November.  On the same day she received the all clear our beloved Mum was diagnosed with Cancer of the Cervix and 6 weeks later on 7th December lost her brave battle.

I have used running for many years as a way of managing my mental health and wellbeing and have even managed to stumble round a few half marathons.  A marathon has however always felt out of reach; but earlier in the year as I watched and supported my sister through her treatment I decided I wanted to give something back and was delighted to be awarded a charity place with Marie Curie, our registered charity at KPMG.  Little did I know that a few months later Cancer would hit our family again. The support we received as a family from the NHS and palliative care nurses in the final few weeks of Mum’s life was both humbling and inspiring in equal proportions.

I know that the cost of living crisis is affecting everyone right now.  However the charity sector has been equally hit by this and Marie Curie needs all the support they can get to continue to do the amazing work they do.  As such anything you can contribute, to help me achieve my target, and motivate me through the early starts and cold & wet winter months of training will be hugely appreciated.
