Story

On the 29th of May, Una and myself will be cycling across Ireland (coast to coast) over the course of 7 days totaling over 400km.

Unfornatuley young or old can be affected by cancer and although there are brilliant charities out there, we choose this charity as we know the work they do to support children and their families is second to none. Every donation will bring us one step closer to having our own Daisy Lodge in Mayo.

Cancer Fund For Children is a safe haven for children who are unfortunately diagnosed with cancer. It offers them a resting place away from the four walls of the hospital. It is a place where they can go and meet other children and know they are not alone. They provide residential group support for children and young people diagnosed with cancer. These activities bring young people going through a similar experience together to have fun and make new friends.

We are two girls who don't cycle, so it will be interesting to see how we will get on. Kerrie Evans, Clarice Evans, Katie Byrne, Niamh Kelly, Grace Kelly, Dillon Gallagher, Conor Gallager, and Rhianna Costello will be joining us along the way to motivate and encourage us.

Our trip route is as follows:

  1. Poolbeg Lighthouse
  2. Mullingar
  3. Athlone,
  4. Galway
  5. Oughterard
  6. Killary
  7. Westport
  8. Achill

If you would like to follow our journey please give 'Cancer Fund For Children' a follow and you can also follow our adventure on myself (Elisha_l95) and Unas (Unab16) Instagram as we will be documenting the whole trip.

The sad reality is that every month in Ireland another 32 children and young people aged 0-24 years old will be diagnosed with cancer. This means that one family each day faces the devastating news that their child has cancer. Dealing with both the coronavirus pandemic and cancer, these young people and families need support now more than ever, and with our help and donations, Cancer Fund for Children can continue to ensure no child has to face cancer alone - throughout the pandemic or beyond. Thank you so much for your support!
