Story
Welcome to my fund raising page for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder which gradually destroys the ability to learn, reason, imagine and remember. The number of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease is large, and among those well-known who had the disease are Charles Bronson, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, and Rita Hayworth. Alzheimer's is predicted to affect 1 in 85 people globally by 2050, since Alzheimer's has no cure and it gradually renders people incapable of tending for their own needs, caregiving essentially is the treatment and must be carefully managed over the course of the disease.
I am really sad to see some of my closest friends and family affected by this disease. So I would like to extend my love and continued care for them by sharing with you this time a challenge I have set myself for later in the year!
I will be swimming 5 km on the 9th of April 2011 with the purpose of raising funds in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. Taking care of those affected by dementia is one of the many tasks of the alzheimer’s society: http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
I would like to thank specially my family and friends for their support which is always very important to me. I hope to see you all cheering me up on the 9th of April at the Kentish Town Sport Centre. I would also like to thank everyone who has donated money to the Alzheimer’s Society so far. But if you haven’t, please do so that your contribution can make a big difference! THANK YOU!
