Hello! I’m raising funds for TVAP by running everyday until I complete a virtual marathon (eeek!) as part of the 2.6 challenge starting Sunday 26th April. I’ve decided to do this because throughout my internship I saw first hand how TVAP is a lifeline to children and adults with special needs and their families and due to COVID-19 TVAP needs it’s supporters now more than ever to help them weather this storm and continue to provide support to those that need it.
Running at least 2.6 miles a day is going to be a challenge for me for sure since (until being nominated for the 5.5.5. Challenge last week) I’ve avoided running at almost all costs under all circumstances. If you know me well you’ll know how much I hate running! I’d much rather swim 2.6 miles!! Everyone knows swimmers can’t run - so please donate what you can to help me put on those running shoes complete this virtual inca trail marathon and support TVAP.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. The London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the worlds biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.The pandemic has resulted in a reduction in income for us here at TVAP due to decreased receipt of donations and the temporary closure of the playground which has led to a lack of user contributions, in addition to a lack of fundraising events. Whilst we are hopeful our events will proceed at a later date due to the playground closure and lack of funds it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise the money needed to continue to support the children and adults with special needs that visit us. Thank you for understanding that as a small charity we need your support, now more than ever, to get through this difficult time.
