Story
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you.
Guide dogs are the reason my sister, Megan, is as independent as she is. Megan was matched with Tate just after her 21st birthday and he completely changed her life by helping her avoid obstacles and finding the shops she needs. Tate got Megan safely around university and two office buildings besides. It was a shock when Tate became ill last year and had to be withdrawn as a guide dog.
After a miserable few months Meg got the call to say
that they'd found her a new guide dog. Layla's very loving and is
already shaping up to be a stunning guide dog.
Guide Dogs relies entirely on donations and without the help of the
generous public my sister, Megan would still be waiting for a guide dog.
