Elin's 2022 London Marathon for Pancreatic Cancer

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Hello,
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m Elin, and I’ll be running the London Marathon on the 2nd of October 2022 for Pancreatic Cancer Action. This is a cause very close to my family as I lost my grandmother, her brother, and her father to this horrible disease. I was born 4 weeks after my grandmother died at the very young age of 50, she never got to meet any of her grandchildren.
Early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is key to survival. The work of PCA has a direct impact on improving early diagnosis and supporting patients when they need it most. Only 7.9% of patients will survive 5 years, which is the lowest survival rate of all the 22 most common cancers, and this is largely due to late diagnosis. The symptoms include abdominal pain, back pain, loss of appetite, jaundice, indigestion, fatigue, and diabetes. These symptoms are often ignored or can be put down to other health conditions.
I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon in 2019, but this is the first time I’ve attempted a full marathon. I’m nervous but also really excited and proud to be raising money for such a great cause!
Any donation, big or small, is very much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support / diolch yn fawr iawn am eich cefnogaeth,
Elin xx
