Story
Hi!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our page. Our son Elias is a spunky 8-year-old who loves Dinosaurs, Pokémon, and Indiana Jones. He wears his Indy hat daily. He has such an amazing heart and is always happy and such a lover of life. Elias was diagnosed with epilepsy that accompanies a genetic disorder. He struggles daily doing basic skills and activities. It’s been so difficult to watch him struggle to participate in typical activities that 8-year-olds should be enjoying but he cannot. As Elias has grown, what should be easy takes a lot more work for him to complete and do. Everything from outings, school, friendships, sports, and everything else in between. As parents it is so difficult to watch and feel so helpless. While Elias continued to have seizures, we sought out all the medical advice and equipment we could in the hopes that when Elias was having a seizure there would be something out there to provide the necessary safety solution for a young child that has seizures like Elias. We were told that we were doing all that we could do, and the only other option was to look into a seizure alert dog. We began researching and spending countless hours looking at organizations and finding the right one that could help our family. We finally decided on an organization called Little Angles Service Dogs. We went through two years of the application process before we got the great news that they can help train a service dog to help Elias! This highly specialized dog would be trained to recognize when Elias is about to have a seizure and alert him so that he would have time to get into a safe position, thereby preventing him from falling! The dog would stay with Elias so he wouldn’t be alone and be able to comfort him by providing deep pressure (a firm hug). This provides so much comfort to us as most of Elias seizures are at night. To be able to have this dog come alongside Elias during these scary and stressful situations is a huge relief when we can’t be by his side. The dog would also be able to retrieve rescue medication and allow Elias to have a semblance of independence, which as he grows, is going to be huge for him. We want Elias to have as much independence as we can provide, and to have a normalized life. This dog would also help Elias with Doctor appointments and the stress associated with these appointments by providing a comforting presents. This specialized dog would also provide stability in Elias’s walking so that he can navigate his surroundings with confidence and not rely as much on mom and dad and those around him.
Little Angels Service Dog is an International (ADI) accredited organization and a 501 (3) c organization which means they rely 100% on donations, from people like you. Please consider donating today to this wonderful organization so that you can help people like Elias receive a dog that will change his life and other like him to live an independent life.
Much love,
