Story
'I've chosen this' were the words my lovely sister Eleni would often say throughout her cancer journey. She never questioned why it was happening to her, but held herself with grace, courage and wisdom and believed that if she was going through something difficult, it was for a reason. If you had to guess how long her time was on Earth by the amount of lives she touched and the number of people she inspired, you'd never know that she was here for just 35 years, until the 1st of May 2023.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and underwent chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. We thought all was well until she was re-diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2022. Despite months of chemotherapy and radiation, the cancer had spread and this year, she was diagnosed with Leptomeningeal Disease which is a rare complication of cancer which acts extremely quickly and carries a poor prognosis. It is our hope that we can contribute to research in this area through fundraising for two reasons - there is still so much to be learnt about Leptomeningeal Disease and also, making a difference is something Eleni was always passionate about.
She exceeded in everything she did - whether that be in her career as a freelance illustrator (www.fallintolondon.co.uk - @eleni.illustrator) - or in her personal life to those who knew her as a daughter, sister, aunty, girlfriend and friend.
Feel free to donate as little or as much as you want to our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
Thank you,
Lucy and family x
