Story
I am a carer. I have cared for my mum for more than 13 years, after she had her first stroke in September 2010. She is 91 now. Added to her physical disability she has advanced dementia. Sometimes she doesn't remember who I am. But I remember that she is my mum, that she looked after her children, helped me to look after my children, supported me when I needed help and support. And I have decided to look after her, at home, not in a home, until her last breath. I hope and believe this will keep her with us for many more years.
Life of a carer always look nice on the photos. But only carers know the real difficulties, especially if they care after someone with dementia. Even when this person is your mum. Carers need help and attention, ability to meet other people, to communicate, to attend a yoga class, or an exhibition in museum or gallery. They need advice or practical help. All these unpaid carers can get from Carers Network.
Your donation to Carers Network will help many carers. Every little helps! Thank you!
