Fundraising for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
I am running the Royal Parks Half to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in support of Sophie, my sister’s best friend. Sophie was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in January 2021, at 31 years old, and just 3 months after giving birth to her first baby. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, and for Sophie it has meant a long treatment plan of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery, some of which she has had to endure far from home, family, and her baby girl, and sometimes without visitors.
To say that running has never been one of my strengths is the biggest understatement ever! But when my sister Louisa told me she and my brother Mark had signed up for the Royal Parks Half I wanted to show some solidarity and do whatever I could to support the charity that has been crucial in Sophie’s care through this unspeakably difficult time. Any donation you can make, however big or small, is very gratefully received!
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
