In the early hours of the 27th January 2018, Gillian Harry lost her long battle with Pancreatic cancer at the age of 69.
She was a devoted Wife to Keith, loving Mother to Lisa and Alison, much loved Mother-in-law to Andrew and Matthew and cherished Grandmother of Elena, Jordan and Jac.
For those who know little about pancreatic cancer, the survival rate is 3%, making it one of the most vicious and cruel diseases to exist. It’s survival figures have not altered for nearly 60 years - a shocking reality. As a family, we have experienced the hardships and pain that pancreatic causes and are committed to changing this low 3% survival rate status. Far too little is done to help raise awareness and we hope that through your kind donations, awareness will rise leading to early diagnosis, and funding will increase.
My Gramma was a true inspiration. She was strong, loving and determined. She did everything she could to fight her terminal cancer, just to make sure she had as much time with her beloved family as she could. Despite recently finishing her chemotherapy, she was determined to make it to her grandsons 18th birthday party. Unable to walk unaided, she refused to miss my (her granddaughters) graduation. And amazingly, despite a drastic deterioration, she made it out to local restaurant on Christmas Eve. I have never met a more brave woman and we will always be grateful to have shared such special moments with her as a result of her bravery!
We would like to thank everybody for their kind messages. We have decided that rather than sending flowers, please donate to this page. We desperately want to help other families and patients in hope that one day, survival will increase and they will finally find a treatment that is effective on pancreatic cancer.
There will not be a day that goes by where we do not think of and miss Gillian Harry and we will do everything we can to make sure she will always be loved, cherished and remembered.
She was strong and inspirational and we hope that through our actions, we will make her as proud of us as we are of her.
With love always.
Thank you all for kind donations!
